Hello from Colorado High Guide Service. Elk hunting is the primary focus of our outfitting business. When compared to other outfits operating on public lands, our successful track record speaks for itself. CHGS' drop camps average an approximately 45% success ratio on elk while or guided camps average over 70% for the past 30 years.

We are a full-service pack outfitter with full permit licenses for tent camps in the Flattops Wilderness Area in the White River National Forest on Colorado's Western Slope. Most of our camps are located within Colorado's Division of Wildlife Game Management unit 25. We have operated a pack outfit in the Flattops for 30 years.

Archery and muzzleload seasons remain much the same in 2005 as they were in 2004. There are four rifle seasons. The first season is limited to elk with licenses only available by drawing. This elk-only season provides a great opportunity for an excellent hunt since there are no other licenses sold. The number of other hunters in the area is at a minimum and the rut will have just ended.

Our guided camps include a 16' by 28' kitchen tent with a dining table and benches. Accommodations for guests in a 16' by 20' tent a feed and tack tent and a staff tent. The camp is fully equipped with wood stoves for heat, propane cook stoves, cots with foam pads, and all the equipment and utensils to make your stay comfortable. The in-camp staff features a cook, wrangler and one guide for each 2 hunters. Horses are furnished for guests to ride from camp to hunting areas and back.
Bear numbers have increased significantly in our area in the last few years. Licenses are available over the counter and may be hunted during deer or elk seasons.
